Hypothetically speaking were his punches to have caused a brain clot that led to his death then he would have faced a manslaughter charge ergo the effects of the assault do matter in the sentencing level.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7463393231272940859.post-66663052012456957772012-03-11T12:35:48.395+00:002012-03-11T12:35:48.395+00:00Tom - he ran in from 20 yards to punch Ben who was...Tom - he ran in from 20 yards to punch Ben who was already being eye gauged by another Keynsham player, Paul Cooper. Cooper was found guilty by the RFU and got 7 weeks although that looks certain to be increased as Judge Blackett has appealed the sentence dished out as being too lenient. People talk of remorse well tak a look at Jack Westons twitter account @jackweston87 and also Paul Coopers @coops3 and then make up your own mind as to the chracters if these two lads. This was not a confrontation on the spur of a moment - it was a blatant assault and Jack had ti run circa 20 yards after the whistle had gone to land the punches. The sentence is harsh, maybe tio harsh but that is the responsibility of the Judge and Jack whose actions landed him in frint of the judge - not Ben Staunton - who is the victim hereAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
